Turtle Island Guardian Alliance (TIGA) is a registered Canadian charity rooted in Northern communities and guided by Indigenous knowledge. We relieve poverty and advance education through practical programs in housing, food security, community farming and training, and sport access for youth.
How we came to be : TIGA grew from local conversations about gaps in housing, food access, and youth opportunities. We formally incorporated in 2024 under the Canada Not‑for‑profit Corporations Act and built programs that communities asked for: non‑profit housing (in development), community farming and training (in development), food and essentials distribution through partners, sport access subsidies, and PAD—our education‑through‑sport model.

a) Relieve poverty with non‑profit housing and supports
b) Relieve poverty and advance education by providing farming tools, seeds, resources, equipment, and training
c) Relieve poverty by providing food and essentials to people in need
d) Relieve poverty by subsidizing community sport for children from low‑income families
e) Fundraise and partner only to support the purposes above

“Turtle Island” honours the name many Indigenous Peoples use for this land
“Guardian” reflects our duty to care for people and place
“Alliance” speaks to how we work—with Elders, youth, families, and partners

Our work centres dignity, inclusion, and partnership. We design with communities, keep applications simple, support those most in need, and measure real outcomes that improve daily life.

To remove barriers so families can access housing, healthy food, learning, and sport. We do this through needs‑based support, culturally aware education, and partnerships that create lasting change.

Communities where youth and families have everyday skills, confidence, and supports to thrive—taught with culture, care, and clarity.
Our approach is grounded in Indigenous values of respect, reciprocity, and responsibility. We honour local knowledge, support young leaders, and involve Elders and community advisors in shaping programs.
TIGA is building programs that scale. Housing and Community Farming & Training are in development with partners. Sport Access Subsidies operate as funding allows. PAD, our education‑through‑sport model, complements these core programs.
